Ben is a graduate of The College of William and Mary, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He then attended Mississippi State University, where he earned a Certificate of Geosciences.
Ben began his career as a morning television anchor, reporter and meteorologist at News 14 Carolina in Charlotte, NC, and in Mount Pleasant, SC. Ben retired from his meteorology career in 2005 to run a Red Cross Shelter in Texas after Hurricane Katrina.
Ben then attended the Charleston School of Law, where he was the Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board. After graduating from law school, Ben joined the Milligan Law Firm. He handles cases in state and federal courts that involve personal injury, admiralty, defamation, and contract disputes.
Ben became a member of the Board of the Charleston School of Law Alumni Association in 2010 and served as its first President.
Ben lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife Nina Sossamon Pogue, a vice president with Benefitfocus, and their three teenagers. Ben volunteers as a coach for his children’s athletics and is involved in numerous community organizations including Meals on Wheels, and the Charleston Ballet Theater.
