Ashley grew up in Greenwood, SC. She attended Clemson University for undergraduate school and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Spanish.
Ashley was a member of the inaugural class at the Charleston School of Law. “Being a part of the first class at CSOL was an incredible experience and one I will always cherish.” While in law school, Ashley served as the Assistant Editor in Chief of the Federal Courts Law Review, Chair for the Student Bar Association Committees on ABA Accreditation and Academics and Curriculum, President of the International Law Society, and the Vice-President of Women in Law. She was also a teaching fellow.
After graduation Ashley worked as a law clerk for the Honorable G. Ross Anderson, Jr., in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. She later worked as an associate attorney at the Finkel Law Firm and as the Director of Legislative Affairs at the Palmetto Policy Group.
Ashley currently works as the Executive Director for the SC Asphalt Pavement Association.
Ashley became a member of the Board of the Charleston School of Law Alumni Association in 2011. “I would not be where I am today without my CSOL degree and the relationships I made during my time there. I wanted to serve on the Board because I believe in the importance of a strong alumni network to help continue the mission of the Charleston School of Law after graduation.”
Ashley lives in Columbia with her husband, Will Batson, and their two dogs, Cheerio and Scarlett. She volunteers with the SC Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and the Junior League of Columbia.
